Part 6: Dropout Recovery Basics - Dropout Recovery Cheat Sheet 1. Reinforce with your staff the end of September deadline to recover all potential dropouts so they won't be counted as a dropout.
2. Review the "Projected Dropout Spreadsheet" that is emailed to you by Debra Ready. 3. Have appropriate staff print out the web based leaver roster each day and provide an accounting of their recovery efforts for each student listed as a dropout. 4. Ensure that the appropriate staff check TEA's PID Enrollment Tracking (PET) system regularly to recover students who are enrolled in other schools in Texas. 5. Check the status of your dropout recovery efforts daily. 6. Work with your Attendance Clerks and Dropout Specialists and ensure that they are identifying 9th grade no-shows. Middle School Principals need this information to continue their recovery of their 8th grade (incoming 9th grade) summer dropouts. 7. Recover all potential dropouts. Please make specific note of recovering last year's 12th graders who did not pass the TAKS or did not complete all their credits for graduation. As you know these students can continue working towards completing high school graduation requirements. 8. Review list of incoming 12th grade students (11th grad students last year) for potential dropouts. These students should be "on time" to graduate with their class. If you have questions, please call Dr. Linelle Clark-Brown at 414-0201 or Ken Watkins at 414-9852. |
