ACCESS
External Partners
Expanding partnerships with child-serving agencies engaged in an array of services delivered to youth across our community is
a major objective of the ACCESS initiative. The following agencies will be providing therapeutic interventions for some of the highest
need students and their families in the Austin Independent School District:
ATCMHMR (Austin Travis County Mental Health and Mental Retardation)
- will increase AISD's capacity for providing direct referral to mental health services for up to 60 students annually and will serve an
additional 18-24 students who need more extensive care coordination and intensive case management.
SafePlace
- will expand the current number of middle schools that have the Expect Respect curriculum from 5 (last year) to 17. Expect Respect support
groups are a 24-week psycho-educational curriculum for youth who have experienced violence or abuse at home or by peers, or who are exhibiting
violent or abusive behaviors toward others. These support groups will target middle school boys and specifically serve boys either at the
ALC or who are at risk of being placed at the ALC as a result of their behavior.
ACGC (Austin Child Guidance Center)
- will implement the Parenting With Love and Limits program, which integrates parent training, family therapy, and cognitive behavioral
treatment for adolescents age10-18 and their families. The program will enable 96 families annually to become more effective at addressing
risk factors such as delinquency, school suspensions, conduct disorders, violence and aggression, low academic aspirations and mental health
disorders.
Any Baby Can
- will implement the Nurse-Family Partnership, an evidence-based, nationally recognized home visitation model that improves the health,
well-being and self sufficiency of low-income, first-time mothers and their children. Any Baby Can will deliver intensive case management,
prenatal education, child development services and parenting education for 18 pregnant and parenting middle school students in AISD each year.
