The Collaboration between the Austin Independent School District and the University of Texas at Austin through the College of Education will improve the quality of PreK - 12 education by forming a sustained, long-term partnership based on common purposes, shared responsibility, and combined resources.

Goals and Purposes

  • Design a model of successful university-school collaboration for replication across the country.
  • Form a common vision of educational excellence shared by a community of academic and practicing professionals.
  • Design mutually supportive interactions among partners who serve the same constituency.
  • Provide avenues for the UT College of Education to apply its resources to the pressing issues of public education, and at the same time update and redesign the College's programs based on real-life conditions in schools.
  • Develop a formal structure for a strong enduring partnership by creating an organized framework for collaboration with reciprocal benefits for all partners.
  • Build on areas of mutual interest by using resources and expertise that are shared by all the partner organizations.
  • Develop 3 to 5 year plans for collaborative projects and activities that target specific goals in five areas, with the ultimate goal to enhance teaching and learning in schools.
  • Document and evaluate activities of the collaboration, making modifications as needed.
