That feature is no longer available at this time with the free Acrobat Reader. Users with a full version of Adobe Acrobat can use the Text tool to fill in the forms. Users with the free Acrobat Reader will need to print the forms and fill them out by hand.

- Can I send in an application without specifying a position?
Yes, you can send in an application without listing a specific position and the District will keep your application on file. [ Back to Top ]
- Do I have to include a letter of intent when applying for a position?
When applying for a specific position, it's helpful to have a letter of intent, however, it is not required. [ Back to Top ]
- Does the district provide avenues for alternative certification?
AISD works closely with Region XIII and surrounding colleges and universities to provide avenues of alternative certification. - For which positions do I use the on-line application process?
Use the on-line application process only if you are applying for a an administrative, professional or teaching position. [ Back to Top ]
- How can I get an application for employment in AISD?
Classified applications and Administrative, Professional and Teacher applications MUST be filled out online. You must also print and complete the reference assessment forms and have your references mail or fax them to the Human Resources Department. Substitute applications may be downloaded and filled in on your computer or printed out directly from our web site. To receive a classified application packet by mail, call (512) 414-1412 or send an e-mail message to: hire@austinisd.org. Please include the following information in all e-mail and/or regular correspondence. Failure to include the following information may delay your application process:

- E-mail address if applicable

- How do I apply for both a professional and administrative position with AISD?
The applications for both professional and administrative employment are different. Both applications must be completed to be considered for a professional or administrative position. [ Back to Top ]
- How do I apply to be a substitute teacher with AISD?
First fill out a Substitute Application. Attach to the application proof of at least 60 hours of college credit (if credentials have already been furnished to the Professional Human Resources Department, you will not need to resend them). Please supply your highest education level! You will be notified to attend an orientation after your application has been processed. [ Back to Top ]
- How do I fill out an Adobe Acrobat Application?
Adobe Acrobat is computer software which creates Portable Document Format (PDF) documents. This allows documents with complex formatting to be distributed electronically without losing it's formatting. The AISD Applications are all in PDF format and, using the free Adobe Acrobat Reader, these applications can be printed out for faxing or mailing. You cannot save edited PDF files with the Adobe Acrobat Reader program but you can with the full version of Adobe Acrobat. [ Back to Top ]

- How do I submit an application?
Available methods of submitting your application differ, depending on the type of position for which you are applying:
ADMINISTRATIVE AND PROFESSIONAL POSITIONS:
You MUST fill out an administrative, teaching or professional application online. You must also download and print out the reference assessment forms and have your references mail or hand-deliver them to the Professional Human Resources office located at:

- How long will my Classified application remain active?
Classified applications will remain active for a period of 6 months. You may have your file deactivated by contacting Human Resources by phone, email or letter. [ Back to Top ]
- How long will my Professional application remain active?
Professional applications will remain active for a period of one year. To re-activate your application, you will need to update your application online using your Social Security Number and password before the one year has lapsed. Once you update your application, it will be active for another period of one year. You may have your file deactivated by contacting Human Resources by phone, email or letter. [ Back to Top ]
- If I have already applied through Region XIII Education Service Center, should I still utilize AISD's on-line application process?
Yes. AISD is not a member of the Region XIII Education Service Center Personnel Cooperative. All AISD professional certified applicants must submit an application to AISD. [ Back to Top ]
- Is it necessary to complete an application if I have worked for the district in the past?
Yes, it is required that you fill out an application even if you have worked for the district previously. [ Back to Top ]
- Is my information confidential?
Because AISD is a public entity, your application is considered a public document and is subject to disclosure, upon request, whether you apply on a paper document or through the on-line process. [ Back to Top ]
- Is there a Job Line Number?

- Should an applicant contact the school principal regarding a position?
Applicants should not contact principals by phone. If an applicant is interested in a particular school, they should send a resume to the principal of that school. [ Back to Top ]
- What documents are necessary to complete my application file?
After you submit your online application, you will also need to send your resume, teaching certificate, official transcripts, and reference assessment forms to the Human Resources office. [ Back to Top ]
- What happens to applications once they are received by Human Resources?
The applicant will receive a confirmation email from Human Resources once an application has been submitted. It is not necessary to contact the Human Resources office regarding the status of an application. - What kinds of benefits does Austin ISD offer?
Austin ISD offers both HMO Health Maintenance Organization) and PPO (Preferred Provider Organization) health plans though Blue Cross Blue Shield. Because Austin ISD pays $325.98 per month toward each employee health plan, we offer very competitive insurance coverage for our employees. The school district also provides its employees with a $5,000 Basic Life policy. First Financial Group of America is the District's cafeteria plan administrator. A cafeteria plan (known as flexible benefits) is an option to claim a deduction in taxable withholding gross. Optional products include dental, long-term disability, vision, dependent child care, cancer, medical expense reimbursement plan, and flexible benefits for health and optional term life insurance.

- Will I receive Career Ladder pay?
The Texas Legislature eliminated the state career ladder system and the end of the 1992-93 school year. The legislature did provide for teachers to continue receiving career ladder pay as a part of salary IF they continue as a teacher IN THE SAME SCHOOL DISTRICT after August 31, 1993. A teacher who TRANSFERS TO ANOTHER TEXAS SCHOOL DISTRICT after August 31, 1993, forfeits all rights to career ladder pay. [ Back to Top ]
