Meet the Core Team
David Lussier, Special Assistant to the Superintendent, directs the Austin ISD Strategic Compensation
Initiative. David was a high school history teacher in Massachusetts, where he earned National Board Certification and was named the Massachusetts Teacher of the Year in 2000.
As a White House Fellow, David served as Associate Director of Domestic Policy in the Clinton and Bush Administrations and participated in the development of the
No Child Left Behind Act. After leaving the White House, David joined the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, where he served as a policy
advisor to the president of NBPTS and later as research director. David is currently an advanced doctoral student in the Urban Superintendents Program at the Harvard
Graduate School of Education. He earned a Bachelors Degree in History from the University of Massachusetts Lowell, a Masters Degree in Teaching from Boston University
and a Masters Degree in Education Policy and Management from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
Gloria Franco serves as Administrative Assistant to David Lussier, Special Assistant to the Superintendent,
and assists the Office of Strategic Compensation in implementing AISD REACH. She has been affiliated with Austin ISD for fifteen years and has served the District as Campus
PEIMS Coordinator and Data Processing Assistant at Bowie High School and as Attendance Specialist at Bailey Middle School.
Jalima (Holly) Subervi, Public Relations Specialist, works for the Austin ISD Office of Planning & Community
Relations and manages the AISD REACH-Strategic Compensation Initiative's creative vision in areas of marketing, communication, and community engagement. Jalima earned a Bachelor
of Science in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Texas-Austin and is certified by the university in Principles of Marketing, Public Issues & Communication
Management, and Project Management. Jalima began her career in children's publishing, coordinating international marketing and branding for Scholastic Entertainment, and has had
a long history of successfully managing brand development and public relations for high profile school district initiatives and non-profit organizations.
Joann Taylor, Senior Associate for Student Learning and Assessment, collaborates with teachers to create Student
Learning Objectives for AISD REACH. Joann was a high school English teacher in Austin, Texas, for ten years where she served as Department Chair for five years. She earned her
National Board Certification and was recognized as Teacher of the Year for her campus and as a District Semi-finalist in 2005. She graduated from the University of Texas with
a Bachelor's Degree in English.
Angela Ward, Senior Associate of Student Learning and Assessment collaborates with principals and teachers to
create Student Learning Objectives for AISD REACH. With over a decade of experience as an educator, Angela has been a teacher leader, Instructional Specialist, Assistant Principal and
Response to Intervention (RtI) Coordinator and was instrumental in the opening of three new campuses. Angela depends heavily on her experiences and her beliefs that an educator
should focus on meeting each student's unique needs and abilities for mutual success. Setting up systems for new schools presented a personal challenge to give all students access
to an exemplary education. Angela continues to diligently pursue all avenues to ensure that every child, no matter what their background or educational need is successful in school.
Paul Stautinger, Senior Associate for Student Learning and Assessment, collaborates with teachers to create Student
Learning Objectives for AISD REACH. Paul has been with AISD for a total of eight years as a teacher Mentor with Reach, a middle school Science teacher/Department Chair and an elementary
Music teacher. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor's Degree in Music and scholastic honors.
Laura Baker, Senior Associate for Teacher Development, coordinates the AISD REACH Teacher Mentor and Take One!
Programs. Laura earned both her Bachelor's and Master's Degree from the University of Texas. She has 17 years of elementary, middle, and high school experience in California,
North Carolina and Texas. She was selected as a district finalist for Teacher of the Year in Gaston County, North Carolina and earned her National Board Certification in Early
Adolescence Mathematics in 2000.
Stephanie Clark, is the Accountant for the Austin ISD Strategic Compensation Initiative. Stephanie has a
B.B.A. in Accounting and obtained her C.P.A. license in 1992. She brings with her over 15 years of accounting experience, which includes 5 years of working with state grants.
