• Math instructional improvement to increase achievement for all students led by Charles A. Dana Center at the University of Texas, starting with Algebra 1.
• Professional Learning Communities

LBJ - Reagan - Travis

• Implementing redesign based on "First-Things-First" proven national school reform model
• Small Learning Communities (350-400 students) built around themes based on student career/academic interest
• Family Advocacy System in which small groups of students are assigned to one teacher who serves as an advocate and liaison with parents and guardians to help navigate the bureaucracy, guide them to solutions, and graduate successfully
• Block Scheduling to provide more time for focused instruction
• Instructional improvement that will include professional development for teachers, a focus on literacy, and new ways of using data to track student progress

Austin - Anderson - Bowie - Crockett - McCallum

• Freshman Academy
• Student Advisory
• Planning for implementation of Small Learning Communities, except for McCallum that has already implemented them
• Targeted instructional improvement for underperforming students
• McCallum High School is considering Senior Year Project program

Lanier - Akins

• Akins High School is implementing Small Learning Communities, including New Tech High program
• Lanier (and International High School) is implementing an instructional program focused on English Language Learners
