The purpose of AISD UpClose is to cultivate a corps of parent and community leaders who are informed about the District's infrastructure, programs, and services, and understand the District's challenges and opportunities. Each month, AISD UpClose classes will meet at various district sites to have an "inside look" at key programs, services, and areas of the District. AISD Upclose graduates will be challenged to become leaders and advocates for the District, to volunteer for service on committees and task forces, to speak up when misinformation is circulating, and to encourage other parents and community members to get informed and involved.

We will have two classes for school year 2008-09. Both classes will cover the same information. Each class will meet once a month and the time is to be determined depending on the class members' availability.

• The first class will begin in August 2008 and end in May 2009.
• The second class will begin in Jan. 2009 and end in December 2009.
